CDA – Charles Diehl Architect was founded in 2009. We are a full-service architecture firm with experience in the residential, commercial, and institutional sectors. Our work includes new buildings and renovations, ranging in scale from single-family dwellings to multi-story mixed-use towers. We have developed designs for restaurant interiors, custom homes, commercial spaces, apartment buildings, and religious institutions. We are proud to have worked on many unique projects such as Landmarked properties and sustainable designs.
We make it our aim to provide a high level of professional service tailored to the unique needs and requirements of each client and project. When clients come to us with a proposal, we first take the time to research the site and analyze its development potential. In partnership with the client, we develop a design based on technical, environmental, and aesthetic considerations. Seeking out the best solutions possible, we collaborate with engineers, designers, and consultants who provide necessary services and valuable input at various stages of the project. We navigate each project through the approval process with the Departments of Buildings and other city agencies. We continue to be involved with each project as it moves into the construction phase, mindful of adjusting for the unexpected. Our aim is to ensure that our clients invest in projects that have lasting value and make a positive contribution to the neighborhood and community.
Charles Diehl has worked as an architect in New York since 1999. After graduating from Clemson University, Charles apprenticed with two Brooklyn-based architects, during which time he held multiple positions for several medium- to large-scale projects. As principal of CDA, Charles is personally involved with each project, from initial research to design development and into the construction stage. He is responsible for quality control and project feasibility, making sure that the project being developed meets a high standard of excellence.
Carmen graduated from Pratt Institute in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. Since then she has worked in Brooklyn, gaining extensive experience with residential and commercial design projects with styles ranging from traditional to ultra-modern. Her background includes photography, exhibition layouts, lighting design, and architectural models. Carmen’s role at CDA includes handling client meetings, site visits, design consultations, and selection of materials for interiors and exteriors. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
Humairah attained her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Mumbai University, India, and her M.S. in Urban Environmental Systems Management at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Her particular interest is sustainable technologies. She worked in India for three years with the country’s leading architectural firm as a Junior Architect, developing schematics, design drawings, and construction documents for residential, commercial and institutional projects. As a project architect at CDA, she works on new buildings and alterations. Her role includes site visits, drafting existing conditions, zoning and building code analysis, design development, construction drawings, and specifications. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, and cooking for her family.
Social Media Coordinator
Graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2007 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications, Jordanna comes with a diverse career background. She brings over 10 years of experience in administrative, event planning, journalism, public relations, and social media consulting and management. She recently stepped outside of her fashion industry box and into the architectural field and began working at CDA in 2016 as a temporary administrative assistant. She currently manages the company’s social media presence and content, handles press requests, and provides administrative support as needed. Her favorite quote, “Your smile is your logo. Your personality is your business card. How you leave others feeling after an interaction becomes your trademark.”
Jinny started working as an office assistant in 2008. After graduating from the NPower Technology Corps Program in New York, she has been working for companies in both the non-profit as well as the for profit sectors performing duties such as database management. As the administrative assistant at CDA, she provides clients with the information they need as they contact the office in person, by email, or by phone, also maintains the office calendar and files, and assists the architects with other minor duties contributing in that way to the completion of projects.
